I am 75yrs old and been driving 4WD on-road & off-road for 60yrs. I needed something more off-road here on the clay hill farm than the 3rd-hand Land Rover Discovery 2 2004’s road tyres came on.
My wife can just get in on it’s standard 255/55x18 tyres, so these are 10mm narrower and 1/2inch taller - basically the same size. Some MT tyres have too much road orientation in the centre, which I don’t like. Off-road these tyres have that directional ‘V’ shape but still enough rubber in the centre for on-road. On-road the handling is at least 95% of the vehicles very good handling standard - so these are more than adequate on-road; and completely transforms the off-road traction.
How many kilometres of travel will I get? - I don’t know, but the price delivered to Takanini, freight free, and Tyre Dispatch’s service was exceptional.
I believe I will get a tyre that will give me many miles of great traction.
