It's advisable to replace your tyres when the tread depth is below 2mm – 3mm. The legal limit for the minimum tread depth in New Zealand is 1.5mm.

All tyres have tread wear indicators moulded into the grooves, and when any part of the tread has been worn down to these indicators, it's time to replace that tyre. Make sure to check all indicators, as uneven wear could give you false readings if you only use one indicator.

Additionally, sidewall cracks and tread cracks due to natural degradation through tyre age are signs to change the tyres. It's recommended to always change the two front or two back tyres at the same time.

You can find the size of your tyre printed on the sidewall, which is the area next to the tyre's tread. The size is made up of a series of numbers and letters.

We recommend double-checking the size provided against what you currently have fitted to your vehicle, as multiple sizes may be recommended depending on the age and model of your vehicle.

An example size would be 195-65R15 or 31-10.5R15

We hold a wide range of tyres in stock, and we are constantly bringing in new shipments to ensure we have stock across all sizes and brands. However, we may run out of stock on a particular size or brand from time to time. If the tyre you want is not currently in stock, please send us an email, and we will let you know when it is expected to be back in stock.

To ensure your safety, prolong the longevity, and maximize performance of your tyres, it is essential to maintain the correct tyre pressure. You can easily check and maintain the correct tyre pressure at almost every service station, and it's free.

Simply refer to your vehicle manual for the recommended pressure, then use a tyre pressure gauge to measure the current pressure.

If the pressure is too low or too high, use the air compressor available at the service station to inflate or deflate your tyres accordingly until you reach the recommended pressure level.

To prolong the longevity and performance of your tyres and save money in the long run, it is recommended to rotate your tyres regularly. If the vehicle is a front-wheel-drive, the front tyres will wear faster than the rear tyres due to the majority of the car's weight and the engine's power being in the front. The opposite is true for rear-wheel-drive vehicles.

To rotate your tyres, you need to swap the front tyres with the rear ones. However, if you have directional or unidirectional tyres, you can only use a 'front-to-back' rotation unless you refit the tyres to the rims.

On the other hand, if you have asymmetrical or symmetrical tyres, you can use a 'front-to-back' and 'side-to-side' rotation.

Tyres have a manufacturing date code on their sidewalls, which indicates the week and year the tyre was produced. The code usually consists of a four-digit number, where the first two digits represent the week and the last two digits represent the year. For example, if the code reads "2618," it means the tyre was manufactured in the 26th week of 2018.

At Tyre Dispatch, we ensure that 90% of our tyres are less than 1-2 years old. However, we do have some stock over 2 years old, which are available at a discount.

To understand which speed rating you need, it's essential to know what the speed rating letters represent. The speed rating is represented by a letter on the tyre's sidewall and indicates the maximum safe operating speed of the tyre. For instance, a tyre with a speed rating of "V" can safely operate at a maximum speed of 149 miles per hour.

When selecting tyres for your vehicle, it's crucial to follow the manufacturer's recommendations for the proper speed rating. Your vehicle owner's manual or the placard on the driver's side doorjamb will have this information. It's important to note that the speed rating of the tyres on each axle does not necessarily have to be the same. However, it's recommended to match the speed rating of the tyres across the same axle to maintain the balance and handling of your vehicle.

For example, if the front tyres of your vehicle have a speed rating of "V," and the rear tyres have a speed rating of "W," you can have different speed rating letters on the same axle. However, it's crucial to ensure that the speed rating of each tyre is within the manufacturer's recommended range for your vehicle's optimal performance and safety.

Find Your Tyre 

While it is possible to fit normal tyres to run flat rims, it is not advised. Vehicles that were originally designed with run flat tyres or RFTs in mind may not perform optimally with regular tyres. This is due to differences in design and technology. It is important to use tyres that are recommended by the manufacturer for your specific vehicle.

Load and speed ratings are crucial measurements that indicate the maximum load-carrying capacity and speed capability of a tyre. You can find the load index and speed rating recommended for your vehicle in the owner's manual or on the placard on the driver's side doorjamb. It is important to select tyres with load and speed ratings that meet or exceed the manufacturer's recommendations for your vehicle.

Matching load ratings across the axle is important for the safety and optimal performance of your vehicle. The load rating indicates the maximum weight that a tyre can safely carry. To determine the load rating required for your vehicle, you should refer to your vehicle owner's manual or the placard on the driver's side doorjamb. It's important to note that the load rating for the tyres on each axle should be matched to ensure proper balance and handling of the vehicle.

For example, if your vehicle's owner's manual recommends a load rating of 95 for the front tyres and 98 for the rear tyres, you should ensure that you select tyres with load ratings of 95 for the front and 98 for the rear. This will help to ensure that your vehicle operates safely and performs optimally.

It's also important to note that the load ratings for the front and rear tyres can be different. In some cases, vehicles may require a higher load rating for the rear tyres to accommodate for additional weight from passengers or cargo. In these instances, it's important to select tyres with load ratings that are appropriate for the specific axle.

Furthermore, the load ratings for the tyres on each axle do not need to exactly match, but should be within a range of 3 of the other side's load rating. For example, if your vehicle requires a load rating of 95 for the front tyres, the load rating for the rear tyres can range from 95 to 98. This allows for some flexibility in selecting tyres with load ratings that are appropriate for your vehicle's needs, while still maintaining the necessary balance and handling.

Find Your Tyre 

The "Z" in your tyre size rating indicates that your tyre has a speed rating higher than 240 km/h (149 mph).

e.g. 215-45ZR17 91Y

The "XL" in your tyre size rating indicates that the tyre has an extra load-carrying capacity. This means that it can handle a higher maximum load than a standard tyre of the same size.

e.g. 215-45R17 91VXL

Most modern tyres are tubeless, which means that they do not require an inner tube. You can check your tyre for a tube by inspecting the valve stem. If the valve stem is mounted directly to the wheel, then you have a tubeless tyre. If the valve stem is attached to a rubber tube, then you have a tube-type tyre.

Runflat tyres are designed to allow drivers to continue driving at reduced speeds for a limited distance after a puncture or loss of pressure. This feature can help drivers avoid dangerous situations on the road and provide them with time to find a safe location to replace or repair the tyre.

All Terrain (AT) tyres are designed to provide good performance both on and off-road. Mud Terrain (MT) tyres are designed for use in more extreme off-road conditions and are specifically designed to handle mud, sand, and rocks. Highway Terrain (HT) tyres are designed primarily for use on highways and paved roads and provide good handling and comfort at higher speeds.

No, sorry we cannot accept Afterpay payments in-store. However, you can place the order using the pick-up option and pay through Afterpay that way. Same-day pick up on orders is available.

We use Toll as our couriers. You will start to receive tracking information once the order has been collected by Toll.

Pick Up Option

If you prefer to pick up your order, you can do so at our location at 31 Station Road, Te Puke. Our store is open Monday to Friday from 8am to 4:30pm and on Saturday from 9am to 1pm.

Same Day Delivery

We do not offer same-day delivery but do offer same-day pick up. A lot of our orders in Bay Of Plenty, Waikato, and Auckland arrive in 1 business day.
